6 Mile Upper Farmington River Trip

Main Stream Canoes and Kayaks’ shorter 6-Mile trip on the scenic Upper Farmington begins in Pleasant Valley near the intersections of Routes 318 and 181, just down the road from the Pleasant Valley General Store.

This shorter route under 3 hours has a lot of variety – beautiful New England scenery with treed and grassy areas along the Farmington’s twists and turns, with areas of moving flat water and a bit of easy whitewater suitable for any level of paddler to make it interesting. One minute you’re speeding along a highway or stuck in your car at a stoplight – the next, you can be on the Farmington River in a scenic parallel universe.

The 6-miler is perfect to start a day and head somewhere for lunch afterwards, or to cap off a half-day at work for an afternoon date with nature after which you can head out for an early beer or cocktail.

Main Stream Canoes and Kayaks makes it easy for everyone – book your trip, arrive at our base store, get fitted with a life jacket and paddle, receive instruction if you need it, and we take you and your watercraft to your starting point!
